LA DESCRIPTION: La maladie coronarienne (CHD) est une maladie qui se développe lorsque les artères du cœur ne peuvent pas fournir suffisamment d’oxygène au muscle cardiaque. La maladie coronarienne est la principale cause de décès aux États-Unis. Cela se produit lorsque plaque s’accumule dans les artères du cœur et bloque le flux sanguin vers le cœur. Artériel plaque se compose de plusieurs substances qui circulent dans le sang, en particulier des graisses et cholestérol . Graisses et cholestérol ne peuvent pas se déplacer seuls dans la circulation sanguine et doivent être transportés par des protéines appelées «apolipoprotéines». L’apolipoprotéine responsable du transport du HDL cholestérol , ou le «bon» cholestérol , dans le sang est connue sous le nom d’apolipoprotéine A-1 (apoA1). En raison de son rôle, des niveaux élevés d’apolipoprotéine A-1 peuvent suggérer un effet protecteur contre le développement d’une maladie coronarienne. Cette étude a examiné les données génétiques de plus de 440 000 personnes d’origine européenne afin d’identifier les régions génomiques associées aux niveaux d’apolipoprotéine A-1 dans le sang. Les chercheurs ont identifié 440 variantes génétiques, dont 407 nouvelles variantes, associées aux niveaux d’apolipoprotéine A-1.
